Hey everyone, my name is Mike Dachuk and I’m a gamer. I have been for most of my life. I’m married with 2 young sons. Like most of you I have some fond memories (and maybe some not so fond memories) of playing boardgames as a kid. What comes to mind are some of the epic games of Monopoly with my friends. Never really playing by the rules, we would amass 100s of hotels on our properties, carry over lossess from old games.
But boardgames became stale and uncool as I moved into my teens. Oh I still played games mainly RPGs and video games. Oh yeah and this crazy addictive card game called Magic the Gathering. You may have heard of it. Occasionally I’d play Trivial Pursuit with the family but that was about the extent of my boardgames. (because aren’t boardgames for kids?) One other thing I should mention is that my sister spent a lot of time at the neighbour’s place. She kept talking about this game Catan or something, how it was like no boardgame she’d ever played. Seed = planted.
Fast forward to my adult life. A friend of mine (he knows who he is) introduced me to a board game he had heard about Settlers of Catan. Explosion! My love of board games has been renewed. Now days I’m playing board games at least once per weekend. I’m always up for trying a new game, I think I have some pretty fair opinions regarding the games I play.
I’ll always give you my honest opinion about the games I play / review. I’m going to try my best to help you to choose the kind of game that is right for you, your friends and your family. I’m going to try to make it as easy as possible for you to play any of the games I reccommend. I’m looking forward to getting to know you. The kind of games you like to play.
